Tools:
Decades back I decided hand cranking
word processor packages was not the
way to go. I wanted totally automatic
update, [& web upload] of
multiple formats for multiple human
languages from a single master
source, + WYSIWYG automatic
re-display of each write within the
editor to the master source
text.

- I generate all formats & both
language versions of my CV from a
single master which is an ' le
' dual language encapsulated version
of Unix (/FSF) groff format. I
interactively edit it on BSD with
self written
WYSIWYG patches to tools such as
vi + ghostview & BSD make macros
etc. (Macros could be easily extended
to call eg latex too).
All my FreeBSD
patches & updates, (including
for
WYSIWYG ) have been long
published.

Tips:
- Ads for agents usually recruit "Young,
thrusting, dynamic"
- Don't waste time pushing me aggressive
un-balanced contracts,
with one sided penalty clauses: They're always
rejected.
- I've been a consultant Much longer than most
agents, & am business experienced ;-)

My resume is Not up to date. I have not had
time in many years. Newer work tends to go on
& under http://www.berklix.com

If you work for a job agency & want my
details, get them from my Ascii version; & fill your own
form in, I will not fill your form for you.
(Either you are confident of charging
your client an agent's commission, as I am
one of one or a few people you are putting
forward, & the client will then want to
see my original resume, not your form, ....
Or you are just harvesting masses of resumes,
in which case it is not cost effective for me
to work for you unpaid)).

I only consider anodyne 'down the middle' fair
contracts.
- If your agency offers a contract, read it
yourself first, with the eyes of a recipient
alert for imbalance.
- If you think your company is bigger is bigger
than me, so the contract should protect you at my
expense, re-think !
- The work & the fee are of equal value,
& if not I need to put the fee up. & As
the work & fee are of equal value, the
contract must be Balanced & Fair.
- Some agents/ companies waste time arguing for
predatory one sided clauses which I always
reject.
- It's virtually never project managers who
want unbalanced contracts, but legal departments
who provoke contract delay & rejection by
pushing often unbalanced one side contracts.
Project managers who fail to tame their own legal
departments to be fair, just get their project
starts delayed by their own side.
- I negotiate contracts in English or German,
my French is not up to contractual, merely
technical, & is slow & 'read only'

Experienced Professionals Are Not Cheap
I started in electronic engineering in 1974;
Systems planning & design engineer 1975-1985;
Graduated 1980; Company flotation exercise ~ 1983.
Negotiated freelance contract in Germany 1985. Company
creation & negotiating project contracts in
German 1986 on, project management ~ 1988 on,
company management inc. bad debt collection
enforcement. Occasionally agents have thought to
buy & sell me cheap into junior jobs : That's
not appropriate.
